Chlorhexidine Gluconate Solution is a bacteriostatic antiseptic agent, dental care agent, disinfectant, cosmetic biocide, and preservative with a wide range.
Chlorhexidine Gluconate Solution is useful against plaque, oral bacteria, including Candida, as well as gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens, facultative anaerobes, aerobes, and yeast. It can be found in antiseptic detergent, plaque-fighting mouthwash, wound and burn disinfectants, vaginal flushing, hair colors and bleaches, cosmetics, and other skin and hair care products.
Chlorhexidine Gluconate is primarily found in over-the-counter items to clean and prepare the skin before surgery and injections to help decrease germs that may cause skin infections. These items are sold as liquids, washes, sponges, and brushes under a variety of brand labels.
For cleansing and disinfection of intact skin. Used for preoperative surgical hand disinfection, and indoor hand disinfection before the aseptic operation, or after handling contaminated materials. It is used to disinfect the skin of patients before surgery or other invasive procedures.
Chlorhexidine is a potent cationic chemopreventive agent with a wide antibacterial action against gm + ve and gmve pathogens. It is both bacteriostatic and antibacterial depending on the quantity. The interaction of cations with negatively charged bacterium cell walls and microbial compounds results in the bactericidal impact in high quantities. The antibacterial impact is obtained at low concentrations, resulting in alterations in the osmotic equilibrium of bacterial cells and potassium and phosphorus leakage.
Pre-operative Surgical Hand Disinfection:
Chlorhexidine is incompatible with soap and other anionic agents. Hypochlorite bleach can cause brown stains on fabrics previously exposed to chlorhexidine solutions.
Chlorhexidine gluconate is contraindicated in people who have previously shown hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine. However, this reaction is extremely rare.
